2020 Lehigh Valley Winter Classic

Now in its seventh year, the 2020 edition of the annual Lehigh Valley Winter Classic will take place on January 25, 2020, at the Bethlehem Municipal Ice Rink (345 Illick's Mill Rd.) in Bethlehem, PA. Flyers Alumni Bill Clement and Todd Fedoruk will be part of the festivities along with longtime NHL referee Kerry Fraser.

One hundred perscent of the proceeds will go to benefit the local Special Hockey of the Lehigh Valley Polar Bears team. The Polar Bears are a USA Hockey and American Special Hockey Association and USA Hockey affiliated organization that provides special needs athletes throughout the Lehigh Valley with the opportunity to play ice hockey, under the auspices of coaches trained to work with players' needs as well as to teach the game.

Last year, Flyers Alumni Riley Cote and Steve Coates were part of the event along with Clement and Fraser. This year, long-time NHL tough guy and current Lehigh Valley Phantoms broadcaster Fedoruk will participate along with Clement and Fraser.

"I was a longtime Pennsylvania resident, but I relocated to another state this past year. Even so, I wouldn't miss the Lehigh Valley Winter Classic. The organizers do a great job, both with the event itself and on a day-in and day-out basis. They're dedicated to the kids who participate, dedicated to promoting special needs hockey and dedicated to the game as a whole. Especially because my own family has been touched by special needs, I think it's important to lend my support," Clement said.

The all-day, outdoor hockey festival will kick off at 8:00 a.m. ET. The event’s hosts, The Lehigh Valley Whalers hockey club, will face off along with 17 other local hockey teams throughout the day, all of which are helping to raise money for the event. In addition to a great day of outdoor hockey, there will be a huge basket raffle featuring hundreds of goods and services donated by local families and businesses, Winter Classic merchandise will be for sale, along with food. It promises to be a day full of great hockey, music and fun.

Bill Clement, Kerry Fraser, and Todd Fedoruk will be available for autographs and photos with fans from 1:00 p.m. to  to 1:45 p.m. before they drop the puck for the feature game at two o'clock, when the Lehigh Valley Polar Bears face off against another special hockey team,  the Bucks County Admirals.
