Alumni Help Kick Off Flyers 50th Anniversary

In the days leading up to opening night of the 2016-17 regular season for the Philadelphia Flyers, members of the Flyers Alumni Association helped the City of Philadelphia officially start the celebration of the organization's 50th anniversary season and to show our support for the current team.

On October 13, a special ceremony was held Philadelphia City Council chambers at City Hall. Proclamations were made to commemorate the legacy of the late Ed Snider and also to recognize the Flyers' 50th anniversary season. Attendees included Flyers president Paul Holmgren, Flyers COO Shawn Tilger and three of Ed Snider's children (son Craig and daughters Lindy and Sarena).

The next day in Dilworth Plaza, there was a Flyers 50th Anniversary pep rally attended by Flyers Alumni representatives Brad Marsh, Joe and Jim Watson, Todd Fedoruk and Bob Kelly. Mayor Jim Kenney dropped a golden puck to start the festivities.
